GSC Senior Recital to be Held

香妃直播 State College students, James D. Messenger and Travis Truax, will perform in their Senior Recital on February 27th. The event was originally supposed to start at 3:00 p.m., but it was moved to 1:00 p.m. The event is free to the public, and refreshments will be served following the event in the GSC Fine Arts Center Auditorium.

James D. Messenger is a senior Music Education major (pre-k to adult) with a concentration on trumpet. Messenger is from Doddridge County where his parents Jim and Martha Messenger currently reside. He is involved in many music ensembles at GSC including: concert band, marching band, brass ensemble, jazz band, and percussion ensemble, choir, and chamber singers. He is also vice-president of MENC (National Association for Music Education) and a member of ACDA (American Choral Directors Association).

Messenger鈥檚 set-list for trumpet contains the following: 鈥楤eautiful Colorado鈥 by Joseph De Luca, 鈥楾rumpet Concerto in Eb鈥 by Joseph Haydn, 鈥楳usetta鈥 from 鈥楲a Boheme鈥 by Giacomo Puccini, 鈥楾rompett Aria鈥 by J. Brouquieres, and 鈥楢dagio in Sol minore鈥 by Remo Giazotto.

鈥淲e work to improve ourselves as musicians the entire time that we are in school, and our senior recital is a chance to prove what we have learned,鈥 said Messenger.

Travis Truax is a senior Music Performance Major with a concentration on tuba. He is from St. Mary鈥檚 in Pleasants County. He is a member of the GSC concert band, marching band, brass ensemble, jazz band, and tuba/euphonium ensemble. Truax is also a member of Alpha Xi Omega.

Truax鈥檚 set-list for tuba contains the following: 鈥楾uba Rhapsody鈥 by Clare Grundman, 鈥楽onata in A Minor鈥 by Antonio Vivaldi, 鈥楽onata for Bass Tuba鈥 by Thomas Beversdof, and 鈥楥on Te Partiro鈥 by Francesco Sartori.

鈥淥ur goal is to strive to be better musicians, and our senior recital pushes us to try to reach the top,鈥 said Truax.
