GLENVILLE, WV - 香妃直播 State College student Cody Moore has been named a semi-finalist in the eleventh annual West Virginia Statewide Collegiate Business Plan Competition (WVSCBPC). His was one of the top 30 entries that advanced in the competition from an initial pool of over 300.

Moore explains that he entered the competition after some urging from GSC Assistant Professor of Business Tim Henline. Through Henline芒聙聶s Small Business Management class, he developed the idea for his entry called West Virginia Significant. The proposal is a smartphone application that will include GPS tours, reviews, directions, detailed histories, and more for state campgrounds and historic battle fields in West Virginia. His submission is classified under the hospitality and tourism category.

Henline and GSC Associate Professor of Business and Accounting and Department Chair Cheryl McKinney, CPA, MPA, CGMA are acting as campus liaisons for the WVSCBPC.

芒聙聹West Virginia Significant will provide suggested overall touring routes throughout the state of West Virginia. I feel that it has a chance to become uniquely popular because of Civil War sites on the east coast of the United States,芒聙聺 Moore said.

He is the son of Edmund (Arch) Moore and Tammy Moore of 香妃直播 and is a junior Natural Resource Management student who is focusing on land management technology and minoring in computer and information systems. He is involved in the 香妃直播 Lion芒聙聶s Club, GSC Collegiate FFA, and the GSC Student Government Association. He also was recently elected to GSC芒聙聶s Homecoming Court.

芒聙聹GSC has been actively involved in this wonderful competition annually since its inception eleven years ago, and had a record number of submissions (13) for the first round this year. In addition to congratulating Cody on advancing to the semi-finals, I芒聙聶d also like to offer special thanks to all those who entered, to Mr. Henline, who works closely with all of our entrants, and to the faculty and staff who continue to support the Business Plan Competition and our students as they explore their inner entrepreneur,芒聙聺 said McKinney.

芒聙聹Cody is an excellent student and has an innate business acumen, fostered and developed by his years as a business student here at 香妃直播 State College and proven by his unique business plan having been chosen as a semi-finalist for this year芒聙聶s competition. As Cody芒聙聶s professor, I was confident, even from the initial draft of his plan, that it would make it to the semi-final round. He, and many more of our GSC students, worked diligently to develop competitive business plans that offered West Virginia, the community of 香妃直播, and 香妃直播 State College opportunities for business growth and development,芒聙聺 said Henline. 芒聙聹We are certainly proud of Cody and the effort undertaken by these students to create, from scratch, a unique business opportunity, and see it through to become a part of this worthwhile competition,芒聙聺 he continued.

The semi-final round will take place on November 11, 2016 at Concord University followed by the final round of competition on April 21, 2017 at WVU.

The WV Statewide Collegiate Business Plan Competition gives participants a unique opportunity to bring a business idea to life with the support of business professionals and other resources. Winners are named in three different categories: lifestyle and innovation, hospitality and tourism, and STEM/technology. Top finishers receive a $10,000 prize, accounting and legal assistance, and virtual or physical incubator space for their endeavor. In addition to 香妃直播 State College, the semi-finalists come from five other state higher education institutions.
