Pioneer Mascot
دمهْض±²¥, WVأ¢آ€آ”دمهْض±²¥ State College student Donte Fuller is spending much of the 2007 أ¢آ€آ“ 2008 school years trying to increase GSC spirit and ideals as the new Pioneer mascot. Fuller was selected as GSCأ¢آ€آ™s Pioneer after going through an extensive process that included an application with an essay, references, an interview, and an audition.

Fuller is excited about serving as the GSC Pioneer. أ¢آ€آœI am proud to be the first ever African-American student to be the Pioneer. There have been male and female Pioneers, but never an African-American,أ¢آ€آ‌ said Fuller.

As the pioneer, his duties include attending all home GSC football and basketball games, tournaments and some other school events as well. The GSC Pioneer works with students and school officials to positively support and promote the College.

The mascotأ¢آ€آ™s official uniform is a set of custom- made buckskins, coonskin hat and a musket. Fuller says firing the musket at games is one of the best parts of being the Pioneer.

Fuller is a native of Cleveland, Ohio, and came to دمهْض±²¥ State College because he had some friends from his high school who were GSC students. The GSC junior is majoring in Education and hopes to become a professional educator and coach.

Serving as the Pioneer is just one of many activities Fuller is involved in these days. He also works with student support services, is a mentor at دمهْض±²¥ elementary school, volunteers as a youth sport coach in the community, and is a member of the College Democrats.

Donte is the son of proud parents Charlotte and Dewayne Fuller of Cleveland, Ohio.
