GLENVILLE, WV - On Wednesday, April 12, ����ֱ�� State College hosted the spring meeting of the Independent Oil and Gas Association of West Virginia (IOGA-WV) in the College’s Waco Center. The event was sponsored by GSC and SLS Land and Energy Development.

In addition to holding their regular board meeting, IOGA-WV members at the meeting also attended breakout sessions focused on producers issues and marketing. ����ֱ�� State College Dining Services provided a catered lunch.

To mark the success of the first IOGA Classic High School Basketball Tournament that was held at GSC’s Waco Center late last year, IOGA-WV President Scott Freshwater and Educational Committee Chair Jeff Isner were presented with a commemorative trophy.

The boy’s and girl’s high school basketball tournament brought together AAA squads from Saint Albans, Parkersburg South, Buckhannon, and Ripley; AA teams from Nicholas County, Roane County, Braxton County, and Point Pleasant; and A teams from Saint Marys, Tucker County, Gilmer County, and Wheeling Central.

Students who participated in the tournament were eligible to apply for a ����ֱ�� State College scholarship that is being funded by IOGA-WV. The six available scholarships will be awarded to qualified seniors who will attend GSC and pursue a degree in relation to the support and development of the oil and gas industry.

Winners of the tournament included: AAA Boy’s Parkersburg South, AAA Girl’s Buckhannon Upshur; AA Boy’s Point Pleasant, AA Girl’s Nicholas County; and A Boy’s Wheeling Central, A Girl’s Tucker County. Over 450 students participated in the tournament and over 3,000 people were estimated to have been in attendance.

IOGA Classic Tournament Director Jim Hamrick called the first event a rousing success. “We had 24 teams come to ����ֱ�� for what we felt was a nice, competitive tournament with a good variety of teams. The students at these schools got the opportunity to play teams they don’t normally get to, which was exciting for them and the fans who came out to watch,” he said.

Early planning is underway for the second iteration of the IOGA Classic, which is tentatively scheduled to take place December 11-16, 2017.
