Curriculum Vitae

Professor Barr joined the ÏãåúÖ±²¥ State College faculty in 2012 from Myrtle Beach, SC where he was a band director for Horry County Schools and the house saxophonist for the Myrtle Beach House of Blues. He currently teaches courses in Applied Woodwinds, Music Theory, and directs the ÏãåúÖ±²¥ State College Woodwind Ensemble, Jazz Band, and Jazz Combo.

  • Performances with Jerry Coker, Terry Gibbs, Preservation Hall Jazz Band, Dennis DiBlasio, Conrad Herwig, Joe Lovano, and Dave Bargeron
  • Performed in opening acts for Kool and the Gang, KC and the Sunshine Band, The Gap Band, Chairman of the Board, Montell Jordan, and Salt N Pepa.
  • Performed as a featured soloist as a part of the 2012, 2013, 2014 and 2015 ÏãåúÖ±²¥ State College Percussion Ensemble Concerts in ÏãåúÖ±²¥, WV.
  • Performed as a part of the 2012 Democratic National Convention opening ceremonies in Charlotte, NC.
  • Directed the ÏãåúÖ±²¥ State College Jazz Combo in performance at the 2014 and 2015 Marshall University Jazz Festivals.
  • Presented a lecture and performance on the history of jazz for the Gilmer County Historical Society, July 2014 and August 2015.
  • Performed in concert with the Davisson Brothers Band at the opening concert for the ÏãåúÖ±²¥ State College Waco Center, August 2014.
